CIOs are Talking: Strategically

When do you find time to think strategically?  Whether it’s a group strategy session or a spin class, effective CIO’s make time for innovative thinking.

Everything we read suggests a good CIO thinks like a business executive.  A good CIO thinks strategically — looks long term at the business and how the IT enterprise enhances that business.  Sounds good but… when do we find time?  Too often it feels like all we have time for are the day-to-day tactical decisions that keep our shops running. So how do other CIO’s make time for strategic thinking?  At a meeting of the Society for Information Management’s Advanced Practices Council (APC) successful CIO’s share techniques for carving out time to think strategically.
